1. General Questions
- How much does it cost? - Several PeachForms.com products are available for free, while others require a subscription to the site. A typical subscription for one user is for one year and costs $250, or you can purchase a one-week subscription for $10. See the subscription page for more details. We are also willing to negotiate bulk subscriptions to multiple users on a single domain; if you're interested, contact us for more information.
- What software do I need to use PeachForms.com products? - Absolutely no special software is required to take advantage of any PeachForms.com product. All you need is a modern web browser. Firefox 3 is recommended, but everything should work fine in any up-to-date, standards-compliant browser. PeachForms.com has been tested in Firefox 3, Internet Explorer 7 and 8, Opera 9, and Safari for Windows 3.1.
- What do you mean, "should work"? - We have taken every effort to use components which have already been break-tested in the wild and proven to work in a variety of situations. Everything else that we have written in-house has been unit-tested. However, a future upgrade to a browser, or anything else unique about your system could cause unforeseeable problems. If this ever happens, let us know right away - we are committed to providing you with the very best user experience possible.
- I'd really rather not mess around with upgrading my browser; it ain't broke, why fix it? - Hopefully the site will still work for you, but there are no guarantees in older browsers. However, we suggest it IS broke, and we strongly recommend you bite the bullet and upgrade. It's easy, free, and quick, and your system will be much more secure than whatever older browser you're using now.
- Do I have to use PayPal? - Yes, but you don't need a PayPal account; you can pay using any major credit card (see PayPal.com for details).
- Cool stuff, but I'd rather have something I can download and install on my own machine. Do you have any plans to release something along those lines? - Generally, no, as there are a host of support and upgrade issues that we would have to deal with in that arena that we can avoid by only publishing hosted web applications. As a result, we can continue to focus on introducing improved products, and this helps us keep our prices down. However, one product, the Judgment Interest Calculator, is available for download as a Microsoft Excel or OpenOffice spreadsheet template.
- If you're charging for your products, why do you also have a "Donate" link? - We offer several products free of charge, though some folks may wish to donate a small amount to help keep the site running. In addition, we will donate 50% of all donations made to this site to a charitable organization dedicated to fighting domestic violence. All donations are very much appreciated!
2. Printing Issues
- Okay, I have my document ready. How do I print it out? - All PeachForms.com products are specially designed for the documents to be printed directly from your browser. Simply use your browser's "Print" function (typically File > Print, or Ctrl+P on a Windows computer).
- I don't like the headers and footers the browser puts on the page. Can those be changed? - Normally, yes. Again, this is a browser-specific function, but usually it's under something like File > Page Setup, and then there is usually a section for Headers and Footers. You can usually also tweak the margins here.
- Any other printing tips I should be aware of? - It's always a good idea to use your browser's "Print Preview" function before you print, to save yourself a bit of headache and wasted paper. You might also want to play with the zoom setting on your Print Preview, to be sure everything fits on the page.
- What if I want a PDF instead of a hard copy? - You can do this by installing a PDF creator that behaves as a virtual printer. There are several alternatives, some of which are free, like doPDF. Installation is straightforward, and then you "print" to it as if you were printing to a physical printer.
3. Financial Affidavit
- How does it work? - Simply enter the affiant's data on the form and print it directly from your browser. Subscribed users can save their data at any time in a file which you download and save to your computer, and which you can use later to load the data back into the form for further editing. These files are tiny, self-contained, and portable - you can back them up, make copies to use as the basis for a new version without destroying the old version, and so on. For your (and your clients') security, your data is NOT saved to our server. Assuming you are a subscribed user, you don't need to fill out the entire affidavit in one sitting; you can come back and work on it as often as you like, or edit any piece of data you've already entered.
- How much does it cost? - You must be a subscribed user to be able to reload and save your data and create the final PDF of the affidavit. A typical subscription for one user is for one year and costs $250, or you can purchase a one-week subscription for $10. See the subscription page for more details.
- What if I want to include something that's not already on the financial affidavit? - The format used by PeachForms.com is consistent with Georgia Uniform Superior Court Rule 24.2 and includes all of the information required under that Rule. The asset, expense, and creditor descriptions are also fully editable. In addition, you can include additional information as "endnotes" (one section per page), which will print at the end of the document.
4. Other Products
- What is the "Child Support Estimator"? - A PeachForms.com original, the Child Support Estimator (or "CSE") is a very simple tool based on Georgia's new (since 1/1/2007) child support worksheet. In less than 30 seconds, you can estimate how much either parent will be obligated to pay the other under any custody arrangement possible given the number of children of the two parties. The tool is designed to be very nimble and easy to use, in the middle of a meeting or even a phone call with a client or potential client, and is accessible directly from the home page (assuming you're logged in). It is provided free of charge, though if you want to donate me a few bucks to help keep the site running, I would appreciate it!
- What is the "Visitation Planning Calculator"? - Another PeachForms.com original, the Visitation Planning Calculator (or "VPC") is simply a clickable calendar that makes it easy to calculate the number of parenting days the non-custodial parent is anticipated to receive in a given year. There are controls that make it easy to quickly assign partial or full days on a weekly, bi-weekly, or user-selected basis, and the result is suitable for printing (for instance, as an exhibit to a court document). Use of this product is free, although the ability to save your data for future use requires a subscription. See the subscription page for more details.
- What is the "Hubby Calculator"? - Yet another PeachForms.com original, the Hubby Calculator is named for the Georgia Supreme Court's decision in Hubby v. Hubby, 274 Ga. 525 (2001) and is used to easily calculate shares of equity in a piece of property following the Hubby Court's methodology as explained in the text of that decision.
- What is the "Days From Calculator"? - The Days From Calculator is a simple tool calculates the date a specified number of days after a given date. If the result date is a weekend or a holiday, the next weekday will also be noted. This tool is also available from the home page for any logged-in user.
- What is the "Judgment Interest Calculator"? - This is a spreadsheet template which is useful for keeping track of the balance due on a judgment. Georgia law requires interest to be calculated as simple interest, not compound interest, and payments and other credits are to be applied to reduce accrued interest before reducing principal. This spreadsheet does that more easily than attempting to track this information manually. A related tool, the Judgment Interest Rate Lookup tool, allows you to look up the applicable post-judgment interest rate for a Georgia judgment entered any time after August 4, 1955, and is available from the home page for any logged-in user.
- What about reference materials? - Click here for a copy of the Basic Child Support Obligation table. The text of the Hubby decision is also available on the Hubby Calculator page.
- I really need [INSERT NAME OF DOCUMENT HERE]. Any plans for a product to produce one of those? - We plan to develop and roll out an online version of the Child Support Worksheet required by O.C.G.A. § 19-6-15 soon. Other than that, we have no current plans for additional products, but feel free to drop us a line with your suggestion; if there is demand for something we don't currently offer, then we'll definitely consider it. Thanks in advance for your interest!
